Jake Emanuel, MD, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology with certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as subspecialty certification in Hematopathology. After growing up in Lexington, South Carolina, he attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in chemistry and minor in mathematics. Following this, he completed medical school and pathology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC. Dr. Emanuel then traveled to Albuquerque, NM for Hematopathology fellowship training at the University of New Mexico/TriCore Reference Laboratories, before returning to MUSC for a final year of non-ACGME surgical pathology fellowship training/junior faculty experience. This latter fellowship included emphases in thoracic and gynecologic pathology.
Here at Dominion Pathology Associates, Dr. Emanuel’s daily practice includes a healthy mixture of surgical pathology and hematopathology specimens. Special interests include thoracic, genitourinary, and bone marrow pathology, as well as flow cytometry. He lives in Roanoke and has enjoyed the move to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hobbies include playing and watching sports (go Gamecocks!), reading, and spending time with friends and family.
